It appears that Intel is not only factory overclocking their CPUs (via core 
voltage increases, and microcode updates) but they have also implemented an 
un-publicized die-shrink.  That means that Intel is having to run < .18u to 
run at speeds comparable to AMD's .18u chips even though the PIII-C has a 
significantly lower transistor count than the Athlon (Thunderbird).  
Interesting.
