networking 101..

I seem to recall somewhere earlier in this thread the mention that link was not established (I think it was stated as lights on internal nic were not lighting). Have you checked:

a) Associated nic is installed correctly (physically and driver-wise)?
b) All associated cabling is correct and functional?
