ISA NE2000 under Redhat 6.1

Greetings:

Running Redhat 6.1, I can't get an old ISA NE2000 to work.  The card
is jumpered to IO=300, IRQ=10.  I've used linuxconf to specify my module

to ne.o with the parameters io=0x300 and irq=10.  When linuxconf updates

my changes, the module reports "ne.c: No PCI cards found.  Use
"io=0xNNN"
value(s) for ISA cards."  Is there something I'm doing wrong?
