Help with network modules in SuSE

I tried a Realtek once under SuSE and had trouble too. Module was loaded but
device acted dead.

If you use YaST and set up a card there, you first have to specify what module
to use (/etc/conf.modules). Then have an IP and gateway set up for this eth0
card (/etc/rc.config) Both things can be set up with YaST. I don't know how
YaST2 works.

If both things are chosen it should automatically load.
By both things I mean in YaST:
     System Admin
          Integrate Hardware
               Configure Network Device(1)
          Network Configuration(2)

There is also an option for *activating* (different from configuring) a device.
