NorthPoint installs a second pair to the home instead of putting a
splitter on the existing pair. So I am waiting on Ameritech to fill the
order for the second line.

This is one of the reasons that I thought it might be a good idea for
somebody like BWL to get into the "coppertone" business as Bob Metcalf
would call it.

BWL already has poles and right-of-ways and an experienced workforce.
The model would work like this - BWL will run a copper pair or fibre
pair to any address in the city back to a BWL Central Office for a
monthly fee. ISP's could then come in and rent space to install
their equipment and hook it up to their customers lines. Kinda like a
NAP.

(This is what the ILEC's are supposed to be doing now, but they dont
want to play nice since they see everyone as a competitor to their
gravy train monopoly).

I have ordered DSL at 416Kbps downstream and 208Kbps upstream with one
static IP for $47 a month.
