OT: Mac support question

I have a user with a G4 Cube and they have a HP LaserJet 4050 printer
with USB support.  We can't seem to get the two to communicate.  In the
Chooser there is a LaswerWriter8 icon, but no printers show up.

The HP docs say something about "use the Apple universal driver" but I
have no idea what that is or how to install it.   Can someone please
advise?
