Did you buy a new machine when win95 was released? *curious*

Nope, not until there are applications that cannot run on Windows.
But seriously, MacOS X was supposed to be ported to Merced, Apple was
_all_ over that. I mean X86 platform starting off new? How could apple
resist NOT porting. Since IT had to buy all new legacy eq anyway.
That was probably the main killer of Merced. M$ knew it couldnt compete
starting on a level playing field.

And everyone else is using M$ office and IE. M$ office happens to have an
excellent Mac Port already. In fact, Word is still the number one selling
program for the Mac. They are both being ported to MacOS X. And it runs
pretty decent x-platform for files.

Games are really where Apple is taking a beating. But those will come with
the new development environment that is free and GCC based.
