Connecting under SuSE 6.4

I have SuSE linux 6.4 installed on my PowerMac and have a definite problem,
it will not get online. To be more specific it won't even connect. My ISP is
concentric, and it refuses to get on. I start wvdial and it works fine, but
when it starts pppd it stops doing anything at all. 

If somebody has had previous experience with concentric under linux any help
would be appreciated.
