I figure if anyone around here can help, it's the people
on the LUG list.

A friend here at work had a disk die, and they think it's a drive
controller failure. There's apparently information on there that
they just have to have for which there is no backup, and they need
that information very urgently. Here's her post to msu.for-sale:

I desperately need a Western Digital Caviar model
number AC22000 to attempt emergency data recovery
as soon as possible.

Apparently AC22100's are more common, as I already
have two.

Please mail bakowska@msu.edu if you have one in a
computer or laying around -- will trade for larger
capacity drive or will make it worth your while in
cash.

I think they're going to try replacing the drive controller.
If anyone has one of these, or experience in diagnosing and fixing
dead-or-dying hard disks, please contact either one of us ASAP.
Thanks.
