Subject: Review Courses On-line

Hi,

OSC is seeking your assistance in reviewing three new web-based
High Performance Computing (HPC) courses developed by partners of
the National Computational Science Alliance (Alliance): Boston University,
NCSA, University of New Mexico and OSC. These courses are funded by the
Alliance.

The courses are Multilevel Parallel Programming, Introduction to OpenMP,
and Debugging MPI Programs on Linux Clusters with Totalview. They cover a
range of topics suitable for novice and advanced users. Users will find many
sample codes in Fortran and C throughout the materials. The courses were
developed using WebCT and take advantage of many of its features, such as
self tests, glossary terms, and discussion spaces.

We are seeking volunteers to go through one or more of the courses
and provide us feedback, while they gain knowledge to enhance their
HPC programming efforts. These volunteers must have C or Fortran programming
experience. They may be new to the subject matter and interested in learning
how to use it, or already familiar with the topics and would like to refresh
or broaden their skills.

Although this is a self-paced course that can be taken at anytime and
anywhere (provided you have an Internet connection and web
browser), the review period is scheduled for September 19th through the 26th.
We expect the courses to take approximately 30 hours each to complete.

To facilitate the learning process, OSC staff will work closely with the
participants and will be available to answer and assist volunteers
during and after the review period.

The courses will be released to the public on October 5, 2001.

If you would like to participate, please contact Leslie Southern,
leslie@osc.edu or 614/292-9367, no later than Tuesday, September 18th.

Thanks,
Elaine Landwehr
