[GLLUG] OT: Mac OS 9 printer question

It's been a few years since I touched a Mac, but if I remember
correctly, there's not a whole lot to it.  You should connect the
printer, install the driver, and if you can open Print Desktop and see
your printer, it's installed.  (Which is, of course, no guarantee that
it will work.)  Does it show up in Chooser or Print Desktop?  If not,
re-install the driver with the printer attached.  If it does, are there
error messages?  Will documents spool in PrintMonitor?  If you've
rebooted while messing with it, open the System Folder, then the
PrintMonitor Documents folder and trash anything that's sitting in
there.  If there were documents in there, did that fix the problem?
Sorry I can't be of more help, but without a specific error message or
symptom, all I can do is take shots in the dark.  :-\

I guess the problem really is me.  I don't know how to add a printer to
a
MacOS 9 system.  It's USB if that makes a difference.

Is it a driver issue or do you think there's something wrong with the
printer?  If you use the console on the HP to print the config, what
does it say about each of the interfaces?

I am having a terrible time setting up a HP 4050 USB printer on a Mac
Cube
(I have system CD and HP drivers CD).  I don't work with MacOS very
often
and I can't remember how to do this.  Anyone able to help me out?
