Yeah, my motherboard (Asus A7V) has the normal ATA-66 controller (2
channels = 4 drives), plus an additional onboard ATA-100 controller
(another 2 channels = 4 drives), for a total of 8 drives. I think there
are also similar boards that have 8 drives and RAID support. I'm not
sure how well those are supported in Linux/*BSD, but mine works great.
