I don't know if this helps, but I use the smbmount command with a
"credentials" file:

smbmount //<servername>/<sharename> /home/ntshare -o
uid=fearsb,gid=fearsb,credentials=/home/.credentials

(mind the line wrapping)

I have no trouble going between domains with this command.
