[GLLUG] CD-RW/CD-R for Linux

Can't you specify the write speed? Using X-CD-Roast you can specify the
write speed.

I went with the Cendyne cd-rw due to the rebates bringing the price down
to $10 (It is an $80 drive). I burned a cd, but I can't read it in
windows, or even in linux... It was a multi-session cd if that makes a
difference. I got a message saying that the current settings were not
IS0?????? Complient. It looks like my X-CD Roast is in alpha stage. I
just ordered Red Hat 9, so I'm not going to do to much since I will just
overwrite it.

Thanks For all your input.

Seth

I have four year old SCSI PlexWriter that's been awesome. A few months
back it
had a problem where it would click reapeatedly and refuse to unlock the
tray
for about 5 minutes after burning. The disc always turned out okay, but
taking
it apart and blowing all the dust out seems to have fixed it.

My only big problem now is that it's becoming really difficult to find
rewritable discs for it. It rewrites at 2x and simply balks at most of
the
higher-rated ones that are in the stores now.
