[GLLUG] FreeBSD, USB, and a KVM

I'm not sure what the last portion does in regards to changing your
console on usb insertion, but you could try it manually.  Login to
the FreeBSD box remotely [or using a ps/2 kb for testing], try using
kbdcontrol -k /dev/kbdX to switch your current working keyboard to
number X.  Check in dmesg to see if you have more than just kbd0. 
If it did detect a ps/2 keyboard, the usb keyboard is usually kbd1.
