There are probably 10 ways to do this, depending on how you want to
integrate with your system and the type of security you want to have,
expansion, etc. You can use ldap, kerberos, NIS, etc.
You could also try using mod_auth_pam for apache and have it use the
system passwords using the supplied pam_unix modules.
