I think this is a great idea and I recall admitting as much in my
previous communications with you. If I let this fall through the
cracks, I apologize, as there was a lot going on with starting the LUG
back up while summer was winding down.
Curt (asenchi at asenchi.com) is the current point of contact for proposed
presentations. He should be able to help get the ball rolling. One
thing we will need are good directions so that people can find the
place where we'll be meeting.
To the GLLUG members: Chris, representing LiquidWeb approached us with
the idea of holding LUG meetings at LiquidWeb in their new facility.
Jeff (a.k.a. El Presidente) and couple of us mulled over the idea, but
the general consensus was that it would be an even longer trip for a
large percentage of our attendees who come from East Lansing. If the
size of the meetings outgrows the AAI conference room, however, it was
decided that LiquidWeb would be a good backup plan until some place
closer to the center of the greater Lansing area could be found.

I, for one, would be highly interested to learn more about network
monitoring and intrusion detection systems. I admin a couple networks
and paging through the output of just a few machines every single day
gets awful tiring and makes me wish I had a big red "Delete it all so I
can hurry up and get on with REAL work" button on my keyboard.
What else would you guys like to see? I'll bet LiquidWeb has some pretty
nifty stuff to show off and it's not every day a chance like this comes
along for a geek to see first hand. (Unless, of course, you happen to
work there.)
