[GLLUG] emacs question; selecting multiple separate text regions

Hi:

With emacs, how do I manually select multiple text regions
all at once in order to do a M-x replace-regexp?
(These are "non-contiguous" text regions that can only
be determined by manual inspection of the file.)

Or, as a feature described more verbosely:

As far as I can tell, there is no easy way to do this on
a default emacs install, but I am curious as to how
others have approached this problem.
Alternatively, I could set up the M-x replace-regexp
command and parameters as a macro, but had difficulty
doing that with the regular emacs run-time interface for
defining keyboard macros...but that may be due to
my own inexperience.

Regards,
Scott
