Seriously though... I'm not very smart when it comes to any of this,
but here is what I thought as I was reading your query:

It sounds as if you are already licensed for a version of visio.  Have
you tried running your current software under Windows emulation on a
Linux machine?  I've not looked into the emulators recently, but a few
years back most of the Microsoft apps ran fairly well under WINE.  If
Visio is the only product that you need to run right now, it might be a
relatively simple short/mid-term solution.  I'd even give your other
hold-overs a look-see as to how they run in an emulation environment.
