[GLLUG] How can a Wiki be used?

Here at the Court we are using JSPWiki, which is a very well organized, well written, simple wiki. We are standardizing toward running all web apps through the JBoss application server, which is why we went with a J2EE based wiki.

We are currently using it to organize documentation for the application we are designing. It's starting to morph into a wikipedia for the rest of the IT functions, since it is so much easier to add something there than to add it to our "legacy" web based reference site. We'll soon add a second wiki and segregate the data where it makes sense.

We looked at using a wiki as a venue for users to submit ideas for our new product, but user's wanted more structured organization, so we implemented a forum (JForum), which has worked out very well for that purpose.

I've been toying with using a wiki, or extending a wiki to be a simple content management system. With some more flexible formatting, inline attachments, and dynamic menus I could see some of the wikis making a great foundation to rapidly develop application on.

I'm looking at wiki software from the point of view of understanding
all the things it can do. Further, I'm trying to see how a wiki might
be used in ways other than something like Wikipedia, for instance.
What interesting uses can you think of for a wiki and why do you
think it would be valuable in that role?
