ifconfig fxp0 alias 192.168.168.31 netmask 255.255.255.255
if you want to get rid of that alias,
ifconfig fxp0 delete 192.168.168.31

ifconfig fpx0:1 inet 192.168.168.31 netmask 255.255.255.255
should also work... but only until reboot rc.conf or or wherever else your
addresses are set is a more permanent solution.

I just read that you have to change the rc.conf file adding the alias, I
did and it works. Thank you.

Subject: [GLLUG] ifconfig issue
I'm trying to do IP aliasing on FreeBSD. When I run the command "ifconfig
fxp0 inet 192.168.168.31 netmask 255.255.255.255 alias", it changes my IP
address. I've seen posting on the web that said it should list both
address when you run "ifconfig a", mine does not and the server stops
responding to the first address.
Do I have the command wrong or am I smoking crack?
