[GLLUG] Wanting to write my own xorg.conf

did you check out the xorg.conf.example file. what video chipset is it? have
you tried the auto generate utilities? I've never written one from scratch
but I have edited many of them... I've never quite figured out the
horizontal vertical refresh rates though. they are supposedly in the monitor
manuals but... laptop monitors I think usually user lower
horizontal/vertical refresh.
