read-write mounts spontaneously become read-only...?

Iunno about your tried methods, but when I do it I usually just right
click the drive on the desktop, and go down the list. A Fly-out menu
with an option to mount as writable should be available somewhere on
the list. This has always worked with me, except for NTFS drives.
