I am using 3.0.24-1 and the upgraded version is 3.0.24-6. I do have synaptic installed although I do all my administration from putty or sshing in so I prefer apt-get or aptitude.

I can't reinstall samba. I have a Domain set up with MANY user and machine accounts and it is a live production environment. I can't back up all the profiles, kick everyone off and then start over from scratch.

I rolled back swat and smbfs to match the samba and samba-common verions (3.0.24-1) and puts holds on them so they won't upgrade - that's the best I think I can do for now.
