You lose resolution and clarity and scalability. I forgot exactly what I
did, but literally it was like convert it to postscript, then back to pdf
without using the print driver.

There was also a feature where you could print a password protected
document to the PS print driver and just re-distill it to get rid of the
password protection. I don't know if that one still exists or not.
