[GLLUG] Triple Boot and Grub?

I did google this - just so you know but I want some opinions of my local people here.

I have an XP/Ubuntu box at home and was considering another linux distro.  My understanding is that I will need to go in and modify the GRUB menu accordingly afterwards.

My question is - when ubuntu does a kernel update and changes the menu itself (or the other distro) will I be losing the settings for the distro that ISN'T the one updating?

Any ideas?
