I have a personally owned Dell PowerEdge 4300 that I'm looking to sell cheap or swap. Its not fast by modern standards, but its a BIG server - rackmount 8U I think, 2x500mhz PIII XEON CPU, 1.25GB ram, 3 power supplies, and a PERC RAID card with numerous drive bays and a SCSI CD-ROM and floppy . The CPU is a bit slow but the 1gb cache on the CPUs compensates for some of that. It does NOT have any hard drives in it - you'll need to buy some SCSI drives (approx $40 each for 36gb ones - you could get 2 and mirror the drive, or get 3 and go RAID 5). They sell for about $300-$400 on ebay, plus $100 shipping. It would make a reliable linux box most likely, with all the redundant systems - maybe a small office file server or web server that you didn't want to crash. I'd be looking for maybe $150 but for $200 I'll drop it off at yer house :) I actually have a second server that I want to get running and the money is just for me to buy hard drives for the second one so I can set it up in a lab environment.
