Just as a word of warning here, no software package is going to make a
bad hard drive behave well. The only solution is to replace the failing
hardware. Some software will mask the problem, so that when it bites
you it will do it in a big way and seemingly out of the blue. This is
not a benefit.
Replace the bad hard drive with a non-malfunctioning one as soon as you
can, or you will lose data. I speak from experience here.
