I had a book once on basic cryptography methods, I =think= I got it from
the library. (or I may still have it grandma used to give me 2nd hand
books from the library too.) I could read it in 5th grade at least.
It covered essentially spy and war basic cyrptography methods. It was a
great overview as it covered chemical and alpha, numerical cryptography.

I know I have one for programming most of the examples are in pseudo code
so that probably isn't what you are looking for. But you are more then
welcome to borrow it if you like.
