Some ideas from reading Charles' notes:
1. For install fest, as I recall, we got somewhat overwhelmed. Not enough
tech. staff there and an unexpectedly high number of "clients". Maybe this
year we could try a sign-up sheet for particular time slots. We'd still
have to expect some drop-ins, and might want one open time.
2. We need to know the room setup before we can set the number of thin
clients we want. (We had 20 last year.) Peter, can you get that info.
from Con Con or the hotel? Sort of ASAP.
3, We need a volunteer to start a list of hardware. Specifically in this
case who will contribute how many thin clients and how they are
configured. (I have 2 units that are P3 500s with 128 or maybe 256 MB RAM,
but probably not the right kind of NICs to boot from the terminal server.)
4. My personal impression is that the demo and gaming boxes were not
really worth the effort. Any ideas on this?
5. We probably need to get the progam book "blurb" submitted as soon as
possible. Peter, if you are our liaison with the Con con, can you find out
about the timeline for this? I have the one from last year from Charles,
so I can provide the one for this year, possibly with only a few changes.
We should meet soon, though I'll not be available this weekend, except
Friday evening which probably won't work for Charles.
