Anyone that would be willing to help with running the key signing party
needs to do these things:

1.) Create an account at CACert.org and register it to your email
address. Confirm the email address.

2.) Complete either step 2a OR step 2b

~ 2b. Go to two independent assurers (public notary, lawyer, bank
manager, etc.) and send a notarized copy of the documents to the
CACert.org address in Australia (postage is $0.90 - I'll even pay it if
you help out) you are willing to give me a hand at the event). If you
have free notary/legal services available to you, this might very well
be the best method (check your employer, bank, credit union, etc - two
notaries employed at the same location work fine).

*Please note that you will need TWO government issued ID documents
containing a photo (ex. drivers license + passport), the appropriate
forms printed from the CACert.org site, and a photocopy of your ID
documents. I'd recommend getting an extra originally signed copy of
each just in case something happens in the mail.

*Also, if you use GnuPG, you should bring along your Fingerprint. The
hard part about key signing is the verification. You might be able to
get your OpenPGP keys signed as well (depends on the individual assurer,
but I would expect it to be common).

~ 2c. Contact two CACert.org assurers other than myself and get your
identity verified, then meet me at one of the GLLUG meetings to get my
assurance. Other than myself, there are only two assurers listed in the
Lansing area (they know each other) and one in the Flint area.

*Please note that you will need TWO government issued ID documents
containing a photo (ex. drivers license + passport) and the appropriate
form printed from the CACert.org site for each assurer's records. You
don't need a photocopy of your IDs or anything for your records
(everything is electronic from that point).

3.)

I can walk you through any other details over email or at a GLLUG
meeting. The big crunch is to get you all to 100+ points so that we can
get rid of external dependencies. Once we get two more GLLUG members
pushed through, we are over the threshold and can basically operate
independently, assuring our own members, etc.
