Neural Networks for the non-technical

Heard about neural networks?   Not sure what they are or how they work? 
  Or why?  This presentation will provide a thoroughly non-technical (no 
math) introduction to this fascinating topic.  A very basic type of 
neural network will be presented and the functional aspects will be 
related back to human perception and cognition.  Along the way, we look 
at visual perception, including some illusions, and the underlying 
neural architecture. The goal is to provide a basic, conceptual 
understanding of neural networks, then to relate the principles of an 
abstract neural network to the human nervous system.
