[GLLUG] Equipment for Eighth Grade Science / Technology Class

Hi I've been involved in the GLLUG in varying degrees for a number of years.  I wanted to bounce an idea off of you guys to see if you can offer any input.  

I have an acquaintance that works in Florida, she is a teacher.  She indicates that their school district is financially strapped, they don't even have any computers in her eighth grade science technology classroom.  If they had computers with the right software that would help the students learn.  

Does anybody have any idea how she could solicit donations of good used computers for a classroom?  Or perhaps solicit community involvement from a LUG down there to help out with that?
