This is simply not true. Adding more memory to a computer if usually the best, least expensive and easiest way to speed up most people’s computers—though with even budget computers now coming with 3-4 MB of memory this is becoming less true.

IANAL, but again, this is not true. Adding your own parts to a computer does not void its warranty as long as you don’t do any damage in the process. While the manufacturer may want you to believe this and even lie to you about this, it is emphatically not true. (See the numerous discussions on this subject when the Mac Mini first came out.)
