I have a 517 Google Voice number. Caller ID usually reports it as being
in either Lansing or Howell.

The Obitalk device (and others) having free calling only because
making/receiving calls through Google Talk is currently free. Google has
been phrasing this such that they may decide to start charging for it at
any time. At this point, they've declared it to be free until at least
the end of 2012.

Some have had success using it with Asterisk and other VoIP
hardware/software, and this is something I plan to look into eventually.
(Hopefully before the end of the year.)
