[GLLUG] BLOBs in Databases

Accessing the blobs via http or ftp when they are stored as files has been
the best solution so far. As far as creating the blobs in the first
place, it is doable but depends largely on the nature of the blob. Why
assume the web app would be written in Java? There are several other
languages that would be able to handle it. Each with their strengths and
weaknesses.

I'm naturally wary of Java since Oracle to it over. Oracle had been far
from open source friendly.
