Rick Houser will be showing us one of his Penguicon
presentations/workshops on May 12th, next Tuesday. Here is his
description of it from the Penguicon listing.

"Wonder how RPM packages are put together? Want to learn how to do it
yourself? This session will be a mix of presentation, and a workshop
where everyone follows along with packaging a few simple, pre-selected
source tarballs. A notebook running an RPM distribution (or remote
access) is strongly preferred, but not required."

Rick says the tools he will be teaching about are command-line tools, so
nobody will have to try running X remotely. Rick also stated that, for
this workshop, he recommends using Mageia, Fedora, and OpenSuSE, but not
RHEL or CentOS. I doubt that PCLLnuxOS would be a good choice, either,
despite being RPM-based; its developers have modified apt-get to use RPM.

Perhaps Rick can verify if a live CD/DVD/USB version of these distros
would suffice.
