It sounds a bit like a losing battle, but I feel your pain. In fact,
since I know of no way to install those 4 Firefox add-ons I
mentioned without getting Firefox up and running 1st, it's the old
"chicken and egg" problem.

Slackware 14.2's Firefox spawns 3 (IIRC) tabs that have some useless,
slow-to-load content. If you can get past that, I can't imagine what
Firefox would be sending. Oh, wait! I just remembered that I went to
"Preferences", "Advanced", (via GUI or direct URL
'about:preferences#advanced') then "Data Choices" and disabled the
"Enable Firefox Health Report". Can you get that far with Firefox or
is it too bogged down to even do that?

I wonder if it might be worth trying to configure Privoxy (you _do_ run
Privoxy, right?) to pretty much block everything, at least to the point
where you could download NoScript, etc.

I suppose once you find where the traffic originates, you'll be better
equipped to block it.

I wish I had better advice to offer. But I'll keep my fingers
crossed! Let me know if you want me to try anything. I've got
Slackware64 14.2 running Firefox 45.3.0 here too.

Regards,
Bill
