No one has suggested topics, but it would be nice to have a demo/class
or two. I would suggest that complex subjects would be better for our
group if they were about what the piece of software/hardware can do, and
not a great amount of detail of how to do it. For example (this is not
criticism of previous presenters), if we were to have someone
demonstrate something like Puppet or Ruby or a web server, I think it
would be better if you focused on its capabilities rather than train us
to use it. An exception to this would be if you want to demonstrate a
particular skill that others might find useful, such as a demo we had
many years ago about how to create realistic-looking flames with GIMP.
Another example would be how to configure a simple firewall for a
desktop PC using a firewall configuration tool, a specially-designed
distro, or iptables rules by themselves. I think topics of interest to
wide range of users would be better, too, but feel free to disregard my
opinion.
