USB support on Linux 2.2

Someone at the last meeting inquired about support for USB under
Linux 2.2. I just plugged in a USB CD-ROM a minute ago, ran
`modprobe usb-storage.o' and `mount /dev/scd0 /cdrom', and
everything worked. I'm using the 2.4 USB backport, BTW; I don't
know whether the unenhanced 2.2 USB supports storage media.

I use a USB mouse all the time.

Now to see if I can *write* CDs this way... And maybe I can try
that HP scanner over in the corner, too...
