dial on demand

Would someone kindly enlighten me regarding the best way to enable ppp
dial on demand for my home network. I have a RH6.2 'server' box with
functional ppp. I can telnet to the box to manually start ppp (from any
machine on the network) at which point any machine on my network can
communicate with the internet. I've been unable to figure out how to
get the server box to transparently dial voyager by simply launching
netscape on one of my other machines. Doesn't seem like this should be
this confusing. I can connect to my ISP from the server box (or by
telnet as above) either by typing 'ifup ppp0' or using symlinks to same
using the monikers of dialin and hangup. Firewall rules and ip masq are
turned on/off in /etc/ppp/ip-up.local and ip-down.local respectively.

I've tried diald but haven't been able to figure it out and have found
their helps to be very obscure. Can pppd accomplish this without
diald? If so, how. I've been reading on this subject for some time but
have found most 'help' documents confusing at best.

Are there any gotcha's I need to watch out for (ie. ensuring that the
box dials ISP only with internet bound packets for example)?
