Someone else can probably address this issue with a better understanding.
The most common error I have seen when trying to get this to work is
simply not having permissions set correctly to start the ppp dialing..
For example, the process which tries to start ppp chat script is owned by
a user (or daemon) which doesnt have the proper permissions. It works
when you telnet (or ssh) into your machine because you are logged in as
root which does have the proper permissions to start the ppp chat script..
It seems like you should see something in the logs, whien this happens.
I personally never got ppp working correctly with linux. =)
