Couple of things that might make them expensive:

	* How many do they sell?  I bet there are lots more big
          monitor sold than tiny ones, and bigger volume means
          cheaper.

	* Do these displays have smaller pixels?  Cramming
          640x480 into 5" is harder than cramming them into 14",
          so the 5" is going to be more expensive because of it.

Just buy a color PDA...
