Yeah. When you call up to schedule an installation date, tell them you are
running Linux and just want a "basic" install. They will just make sure you
are hooked up at the pole, leave you with their @home CD and bid you farewell.

If you buy the cable modem, it will cost you around $200. So, to break
even, you have to subscribe for 20 months. I bought my own modem, and the
first bill was for $19.95, and I think if I had rented a modem, they would
have charged $29.95, but I'm not 100% positive.

Yeah, although I've had luck with just putting in the Static IP information
they put on the work order..
