I am trying to decide which Linux to choose for my desktop. Is there a
source of information that covers the pros/cons between the different
variations of Linux. I need to run Vmware workstation 3x. I appreciate all
responses and opinions.

Try this:
Make a boot floppy for win98 (control panel, add/remove)
if you do not have one and run sys c:
If the boot floppy does not have sys, I believe it should be in
c:\windows\command. You need to execute the command while
still in the A: drive. eg.
A:\>c:\windows\command\sys.com c:

I know this doesn't have to do with *nix, but it has been bugging me

I used to have Win2k installed on a SCSI drive on my x86 box, but I
recently
put FreeBSD on that drive. Every time I start up the machine it asks me if
I
want to boot into Win2k or Win98 (on an IDE drive). Win2k doesn't exist
anymore, so how do I get it to just autoboot into Win98? I tried fdisk
/mbr
but it didn't do it.
