Stan,

I would recommend you take a look at Virgin Mobile plans.

I have the Samsung Intercept (Android) and the $25/mo 300min unlimited 
texting/data plan, and I am pretty satisfied.

In case you are unaware, Virgin Mobile is owned by Sprint and therefore 
uses the same towers that Sprint does.

The downside of Virgin Mobile is that there is no roaming and no 
unlimited nights and weekends.

The upside is savings of about $500 a year.

Just food for thought.
