That part sounded strangely familiar, but I'll be dogged if I could remember 
from what. None of my current cases have such a setup. But I clearly recall 
using something like that (not the locking bar, but the snap-in rail with the 
curved rod), so I was motivated to do some searching based on that model 
number and I found this page:

There are 2 good photos of the interior, pre-install and post-install. If you 
load up the 2 photos in adjacent browser tabs and switch between them, it's 
obvious that the top-most (of 4) of the purple locking levers has been slid 
aft during the component installation. Given that the guy seems to have only 1 
5.25-inch external drive and it's in that top slot, I'd have to assume that 
"AFT" = "LOCKED". So if you slide the purple locking lever _forward_, I'd 
assume that the drive must somehow be capable of (forcible?) removal.
