Frank's comments herewith:
The first email was sent from my Comcast webmail interface. The second was sent from home via Thunderbird.
I typically use the Comcast webmail interface to look at my email and to cull messages I don't wish to keep before I download the remaining messages to my home computer .
When I looked at the first message, the map didn't appear. Webmail didn't offer an option to show the map. Didn't even appear as an embedded image icon.
A second test message sent only to me from Tbird did show the map when examined via webmail.
Fearing success, I sent the map along to everyone using the second method.

Why the difference? I don't know.

Frank

Now that you mention it, Chick, I have a 500,000-byte limit on KMail
downloads, so it _did_ ask me before downloading Frank's mail, but I think it
was only his 1st email (with the larger [PNG] file) that triggered the query
because I only got a prompt for 1 email from him and yet both of his emails
came in after that. I've had that query happen many times since I set that
limit several years ago and, to my knowledge, it never affected the
attachments' visibility. But, who knows what's really going on -- certainly
not me! :^) Maybe when Frank comments the mystery will be less, uhm,
mysterious.

It sure feels that way sometimes!
